Welcome to Banipur Mahila Mahavidyalaya

Banipur Mahila Mahavidyalaya, situated at Banipur, North 24 Parganas, is an undergraduate institution for women. The College, located at Banipur attracts women students from Banipur, Habra and the district. The college is affiliated to West Bengal State University, Barasat.

Banipur Mahila Mahavidyalaya in Banipur was established in 1999 with the objective to provide higher education to women. The college made a humble beginning with four substantive lecturers and about hundred students with classes held in the morning at a Girl’s High school in Habra. The new complex came up in 2003 at Banipur amidst the expansive lush greenery of nature far from the madding crowd. Banipur educational complex hosts a number of colleges - Post Graduate Training College for Physical Education and a Teacher's Training College, both having long and prestigious backgrounds. The college has expanded structurally as the first storey has been constructed in 2015 and an Annex building is proposed in the coming year. The college at present offers Degree Course in Arts ( Honours and General stream ). There are 9 UG departments in the college and the college has a good reputation of an excellent academic environment. A number of new subjects will be introduced in the next session (2016- 2017) continuing with the tradition of expansion and development of women’s higher education.


The Principal, Dr. Bidisha Ghosh Dastidar is the Head of the institution and she is assisted by the Teachers' Council and other committees formed by the Governing Body and the office staff on all administrative matters.


The college has an alumni association that has students and teachers as members. The alumni meet every year and organize meetings. The aim of the alumni association is to promote fellowship and to establish, renew, and maintain contact among old students, to promote and encourage Literary and Cultural activities and Social Services.

General Rules & Code of Conduct of Students

(1)Students are to maintain discipline inside and outside the college.
(2) Students are to treat the members of the teaching and non-teaching stuff with courtesy and respect.
(3) Students must maintain silence in the classroom, corridor and examination halls.
(4) Any breach of discipline in the classroom or examination hall will make the students liable to punish.
(5) Total silence should be observed in the library.
(6) No outsider in allowed within the college premises without permission of the Principal and Students
      should not bring such outsiders with them.
(7) Students must pay their fees within the 10th of every month.

College Hours

The college is open from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm on all weekdays.

Academic Calendar

Date of important programmes such as Annual Examination, Tests, Summer Vacation, Puja Vacation are intimated to the students at the beginning of each academic year.

The session starts on 1st July every year and ends on 30th June of following year.
